Courses

Through the study of art, students will foster meaning making,  deeper emotional responses and more inventive decision making.
Students will learn the critical processes of observing, describing, analyzing, interpreting and evaluation.
Students will understand and apply the elements and principles of art and design in the creation and evaluation of art.


Intro to Art

This course is designed to introduce students to the elements and principles of art and design.  Students will be exposed to a variety of artists/genres, and will develop skills in multiple mediums.  Creative processes and critical analysis will be discussed and practiced.



Drawing and Painting I (Honors)
Students must be recommended for this honors course. This course continues to explore the elements and principles of art and design. Creative problem solving, technical skills, and critical analysis are strongly emphasized.   



Drawing and Painting II (Honors)
Students must be recommended for this honors course. This course focuses on synthesizing and refining skills and concepts introduced in Painting and Drawing 1
New techniques will be introduced and the critique process will be utilized to create artwork that is portfolio worthy.




AP Studio Art: Drawing
Students must be recommended for this course. AP Art is a highly demanding course that requires the completion of 24 portfolio pieces. Students will explore and refine technical skills, and create artwork that evolves from a central idea. Group and individual critiques are integral part of the process. Completion of this course provides students with portfolios ready for the college admission process.
