Stella, Allison

Ms. Allison Stella ext. 7119 Since beginning at BHS in January 2015, I've been conducting classes in the English core (both Honors and CP courses), Public Speaking, Writing Theory, Broadcast Journalism, and Modern Poetry. Currently, my classes include English III Honors, English III CP, Modern Poetry, Public Speaking, and Journalism 2 (aka the video broadcast team "Bengal Buzz"). I also hope to continue supporting my amazing students' passions, no matter their relevance to the field of English studies. My own personal interests and studies extend into visual art, music, and technology, and I encourage my students to likewise collect little pleasures and proficiencies in this formative era of their lives. Ms. Stella As a Harold Bloom proselyte, I hope to instill the same sense of priority that a critical theorist maintains toward reading. Bloom best described the purpose of reading this way: "We read deeply for varied reasons, most of them familiar: that we cannot know enough people profoundly enough; that we need to know ourselves better; that we require knowledge, not just of self and others, but of the way things are." Open office hours for this year are MTW&F from 1:50-3:00 in B209, but extended times and Thursdays can be made available upon notice.
